Overview of Comodo
Comodo is the latest in a long line of antivirus companies putting detection before prevention. Initially formed way back in 1998, Comodo has offices spread across the globe.
As an affordable alternative to better-known companies, Comodo has a lot to offer - just be aware that their software also comes with a bunch of unnecessary extras (eg. Comodo Web Browser).
How to Set It Up and Uninstall
Both the free and paid versions of the antivirus software are available on the main page of the Comodo website. Simply select the one you want and click Download.
Run the installation file and choose an installation path. Double-check if you’re also installing additional software.
Once the program’s installed, you can start an initial scan.
Comodo antivirus doesn’t come with a built-in uninstaller, so you’ll have to use your computer’s own add/remove programs function.
The free version is a decent, basic antivirus, whereas the paid version comes with a slew of useful features.
|Platform||Windows, macOS and mobile devices|
|USD Virus Scans||No|

Comodo antivirus offers a choice of Quick, Full, Rating, and Custom Scans. Keep in mind, it also always runs a full scan on start-up by default.

Rather than a discount, the option to purchase the full version for an extra $2 to cover up to three computers is good value for money.
Privacy and Security
Privacy - A built-in firewall and cloud-based whitelisting help keep your information safe from hackers and other online intruders.
Security - Comodo antivirus uses Zero Trust architecture, which means anyone who uses a device with the software installed has to undergo a strict verification process first.
Performance and Protection
Scans are relatively quick once initiated, but the default boot scan adds serious time to every subsequent computer log-in.
The patented Defense+ technology prevents unwanted software installation.
The same technology also detects possible hacker activity.
Web protection ensures you can surf the net without worrying about attacks.
Included in both the free and paid versions.
The paid version also incorporates a firewall to halt security breaches on your computer.
Lab Test Results
A Full Scan gradually causes a noticeable slowdown, but after about an hour. It can also be set to run in the background. The software has also been rated as a Top Product by AV Test.
Ease of Use and Interface
The Comodo Antivirus UI is designed for maximum efficiency. All features are laid out in large squares, with additional options neatly organized.
The UI also incorporates a Live Support feature that opens up a chat window in your web browser.
